The Sri Lankan chapter of Diakonia, a faith-based Development Organization in Sweden, committed to working towards a Just, Equal, and Sustainable world, approached SIPL to facilitate the process of developing a context analysis to guide their Strategic Plan for the years 2021 - 2025. This exercise was consequent to Diakonia Sri Lanka requesting from its Head Office that they be allowed to develop a Strategic Plan independently, in order to bring more flexibility into their programmes and processes.
This flexibility certainly allows Diakonia Sri Lanka to not just engage with its established NGO partners, but also to work with movements, networks, cooperatives and academia. It also allowed for flexibility in the areas they could work in response to the context. The context analysis also helped Diakonia Sri Lanka to decide on what it should be doing and how, where it would like to work, can work, and with whom within the given time period.
The analysis covered the key areas: political, legal/administrative, environmental, social/cultural, conflict/post-conflict, gender dynamics and digitalization/technology.
